Community Activators

Community Activators are established and networked people from a community who want to improve people’s lives.

Are you a Community Activator?

Becoming a Community Activator with LiverWELL means you are taking the pledge to increase people’s understanding about liver health. Community Activators speak strong and clear about ways to look after your liver, access services and supports available, to live healthier, longer lives.

We know that people from the community are much more effective at delivering information impactfully to their communities, than we could ever be!! So, we want to acknowledge that, by supporting people who are leaders in caring for their communities to share some important information.

Why Liver Health?

Our liver is an incredible organ, responsible for more than 500 functions in the human body – but often overlooked in health messaging. Liver cancer is the fastest rising cause of cancer deaths, and currently the 7th most common cause of cancer-related deaths in Victoria. This is despite there being an amazing array of treatments available for liver conditions. Many people don’t know how to check on their liver health, or what options are available to them. That’s where our amazing Community Activators can help.

When people call for action from communities, communities listen!

How do we activate?

People from the community can make a real impact. You might link us with a community group who we could develop a workshop for. We have an annual incentives program for World Hepatitis Day you can apply for to access some funds to assist with holding an event to raise the profile of liver health.

You might share words and images that could be used for targeted campaigns to encourage your community to act – all in the name of better liver health. We might request to use your image and quotes to promote outreach in your community, with links to further health information on how people can act for better liver health for themselves, families, and communities.

We may also request to phone you in the future for quotes for media or conduct a podcast interview.

There may also be the opportunity for us to engage you to attend events as public speakers. Should you accept, a small speaking fee could be negotiated.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
