Professor Gow also highlighted LiverWELL’s National MASLD Community Survey, giving people living with MASLD, or those who care about someone affected, the opportunity to share their experiences and help shape better awareness, support and care across Australia.

Bile means
To celebrate World Hepatitis Day 2025, our very own Jon Kok joined Dr Cat on JOY’s Science Queeries for an un-bile-liver-ably great episode. The year’s theme was Let’s Break It Down – and that is exactly what they did, unpacking the different types of hepatitis, who is most at risk, and what treatment and prevention look like.
Jon, who is LiverWELL’s Workforce Development and Research Officer and a host on JOY’s Hide and Seek, also spoke about the ongoing stigma around hepatitis and the exciting research working towards a cure for hepatitis B. With an estimated 354 million people living with hepatitis B or C globally, and many still without access to testing or treatment, this is a conversation not to miss. The episode originally aired on 29 July 2025 and is available now on JOY’s website or wherever you get your podcasts.
