First Nations Voice to Parliament

Event date
February 18, 2023 - February 24, 2023

All around the country during the week of 18-24 February people will be showing their support for a referendum on a First Nations Voice to Parliament.

A Voice to Parliament will give Indigenous communities a route to help inform policy and legal decisions that impact their lives. Giving people a say will lead to more effective results. Embedding a Voice in the Constitution would recognise the special place of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia’s history.

A Voice to Parliament can lead to raised awareness of Indigenous health issues, and guide policy in taking action to address them. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experience an increased prevalence of liver disease and are many times more likely to be diagnosed with viral hepatitis than non-Indigenous Australians.

LiverWELL supports a Voice to Parliament and is committed to assisting Indigenous Communities in improving their health and wellbeing.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
