This October, we join the global movement to mark Liver Awareness Month 2025, an important opportunity to shine a spotlight on the importance of liver health. Your liver is a true powerhouse, performing more than 500 essential functions every single day. From cleansing the blood and aiding digestion to boosting energy, fighting infections, and filtering harmful toxins, the liver works tirelessly to keep you healthy.
When the liver becomes damaged, these vital functions are compromised, which can have serious impacts on your overall health. The good news is that with the right care, the liver has an incredible ability to heal and repair itself. That is why prevention, early testing, and access to treatment are so important.
Throughout the month, LiverWELL will be highlighting the steps we can all take to better protect our liver health. We will showcase our brand-new Hepatitis B & Hepatitis C Information Hubs, which provide vital resources for communities, patients, and healthcare providers. We will also share information about steatotic liver disease (fatty liver disease), and raise awareness about taking action against liver cancer, the sixth most common cause of cancer-related deaths in Victoria.
You can help us raise awareness! Share our messages, start a conversation, and help break down stigma around liver disease. Follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram to spread the word and encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to prioritise their liver health.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
