International students in Melbourne and Victoria are invited to a unique event hosted by LiverWELL and AUSWISE focused on hepatitis B, visa and migration experiences, and navigating the Australian healthcare system.
This event offers a safe and inclusive space for participants to reflect on their personal health journeys, including experiences with hepatitis B and C, and to express themselves through storytelling and creative activities. It will also explore the impact of stigma and discrimination, aiming to build empathy and encourage more open, respectful conversations around liver health.
While not everyone may be directly affected by hepatitis B, the condition impacts many communities, particularly those from East and Southeast Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and Pacific Island regions. A collective effort is needed to reduce stigma and support better health outcomes for all.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
