Make Vic Hep Free – World Hepatitis Day Event at Parliament

July 17, 2025

On 29 July 2025, The Viral Hepatitis Round Table (VHRT) — a collaboration of over 30 leaders from across the hepatitis sector — will host Make Vic Hep Free at Parliament House, bringing together MPs and sector advocates in a powerful show of purpose. Sponsored by Mathew Hilakari, MP for Point Cook, the event builds on months of direct engagement with Parliament, including more than 10 meetings with MPs in the last six months. Their growing interest and support reflect a critical shift in the viral hepatitis sector, and we are inspired by the show of interest by MPs across Victoris already.

The goal is clear — to eliminate viral hepatitis in Victoria in 2030. We know what works: meeting people where they are, with trusted, community-based care. In pockets of Victoria, this approach is already transforming lives. Now is the time to scale that success. Make Vic Hep Free is about raising awareness, building political momentum, and showing that elimination isn’t a distant goal — it’s within reach!
