On 29 July 2025, the Victorian viral hepatitis sector gathered at Parliament to mark World Hepatitis Day – and call for action to eliminate hepatitis by 2030.

Politicians heard directly from people with lived experience of hepatitis B and C, alongside the passionate health workers and advocates leading the response on the ground.

We know what works. The cure for hepatitis C exists. Treatment for hepatitis B works. But unless we invest in care that is local, safe and stigma-free, too many people will continue to miss out.

On hashtag#WorldHepatitisDay, MPs from across the political spectrum stood up and pledged to help change that.

Eliminating viral hepatitis is within our reach — but only if we meet people where they are, with care that’s trusted, accessible and grounded in community.

Together we can make sure every Victorian living with viral hepatitis can be well – and stay well – no matter who they are or where they live.
