On 24 January, LiverWELL attended the Melbourne Drum Harmony Festival at the Cranbourne West Community Hub. Hosted by the Future Drumming Band, the festival featured performances from China, Argentina and West Africa, creating a lively and culturally rich day for local families and community members.
LiverWELL ran an information stall throughout the event, offering a welcoming space for informal, one-on-one conversations. Health Promotion Officer Alain spoke with Chinese community members and other City of Casey residents about viral hepatitis, including hepatitis B and C, the importance of testing, ongoing monitoring, and staying connected to care.
Information was available in both English and Chinese to support clear and accessible communication. LiverWELL also shared resources and merchandise to help reinforce key liver health messages. Many people stopped by the stall with thoughtful questions, ranging from general information about hepatitis B and how it is transmitted, to questions about the differences between hepatitis A, hepatitis B and HIV. These conversations showed the value of providing accurate information in community settings.
LiverWELL values opportunities to take part in local events such as the Melbourne Drum Harmony Festival. Being present at community celebrations allows us to connect directly with residents, share practical health information, and support people to make informed decisions about their liver health.
