Happy International Nurses Day!

May 12, 2023

With the increased pressures on our health system, it has never been more important to show nurses respect and appreciation for their efforts in providing us with medical care. Nurses can face abuse from the public, suffer from extreme workloads, and can be undervalued in the workplace.

Our nurses are integral to keeping us healthy, so this International Nurses Day, we recognise hepatology nurses in Australia and the amazing work they do.

Hepatology nurses are specialised liver health nurses that have an increased skillset, allowing them to care for patients with viral hepatitis and chronic liver conditions. These nurses provide critical medical care, whilst also building relationships, and respectfully communicating with those who are undergoing treatment. Our hepatological nurses work to decrease stigma related to viral hepatitis in medical settings by providing valued insight and knowledge.

LiverWELL extend thanks to nurses all around the world for the great work they do for their liver health patients.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
