HEP Hero Emily Li

November 3, 2017

Emily Li

As a Master of Public Health student, I’m passionate and believe in contributing to and acting in collaboration with World Health Organisation’s sustainable development goals. To achieve this, the eradication of infectious disease is fundamental.

Back in mainland China, the high prevalence of chronic hepatitis B is impacting on everyone in the community regardless of their age groups, gender or socioeconomic status.

What’s more shocking is that a very large proportion of those who are infected are not aware of their viral status until their condition progress to a very late stage.

Knowing that this is a completely preventable and curable disease, makes the urgency for action more critical then ever.

On the other side, there are people who have been fighting with this disease in their lifetime with great courage. Let’s embrace the call for de-stigmatization for people living with viral hepatitis.

Emily’s message to others:

I appreciate this opportunity of being a HepHero and I’m proud to speak out for those who are struggling with hepatitis, and being part of the Hepatitis Victoria team to contribute in improving the health for all of us.
