At the 2025 Preventive Health Conference in Canberra, LiverWELL CEO Elaine Montegriffo delivered a compelling presentation on the inaugural National MASLD Symposium held in Melbourne in October 2024. The symposium, a pioneering event in Australia, convened over 60 leaders from healthcare, research, and advocacy sectors to elevate Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) as a national public health priority.
Montegriffo’s session underscored the urgent need for a coordinated, policy-driven approach to address MASLD, a condition affecting approximately 1 in 4 Australians and closely linked to diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases.
The conference theme, “Prevention is Political,” resonated deeply with the discussions, reinforcing the idea that effective prevention strategies require political will, intersectoral collaboration, and sustained investment . Montegriffo’s presentation was well-received, sparking meaningful conversations and fostering new connections with organisations committed to preventive health.
