LiverWELL Regional Forums: Mildura Recap

May 5, 2022 - May 5, 2022

LiverWELL hosted our first regional forum of 2022 in Mildura on 5 May 2022! Our Health Promotions & Community Education team put together an amazing workshop that included lived experience speakers, professional liver health knowledge provided by skilled practitioners, as well as local perspectives and referral pathways to better support the community.

The Mildura Forum included:

  • Jennifer MacLachlan – Senior Epidemiologist WHO Collaborating Centre for Viral Hepatitis, The Doherty Institute
  • Nafisa Yussf – Social Researcher and Project Manager at
WHO Collaborating Centre for Viral Hepatitis and The Doherty Institute
  • Dr. Joe Sasadeusz – Infectious diseases physician who subspecializes in medical virology, and associate professor at The Doherty Institute
  • Dr. Kumar Visvanathan – Infectious diseases physician, Clinical Director of Medicine & Emergency Services and Co-Director of the Immunology Research Centre at St. Vincent’s Hospital (Melbourne)

We hope that our insight aided in the continued development of support for those living with liver conditions within the Mildura community.

Thank you to the local community of healthcare workers who attended the workshop. We are excited to host the next of our regional forums in Bendigo and Geelong within the coming months.
