Dear LiverWELL Community,

I hope you have all been enjoying the fabulous autumn sun! We have been busy networking and collaborating across the liver health and viral hepatitis sector—from our fourth Viral Hepatitis Round Table, held in partnership with Burnet Institute at The Living Room, to engaging community education sessions led with the Western Public Health Unit and Centre for Ethnicity and Health.

At the Public Health Association of Australia’s Conference “Prevention is Political” in Canberra, I enjoyed a very warm reception to my presentation on our work to make MASLD a national public health priority and had the opportunity to engage with passionate and inspiring preventive health advocates, practitioners, and researchers from across Australia and internationally. So many potential collaboration opportunities and avenues to turn the tide on MASLD!

In regional Victoria, the Goulburn Valley Hepatitis C Dinner brought together clinicians across the region in Shepparton to discuss the impact of hepatitis C. The event prompted several services to join the Motivate C project, with strong interest in the emerging regional community of practice.

We’re recruiting for two exciting new permanent roles—a Lived Experience Lead to deepen and embed Lived Experience across all of our work, and a Health Promotion Manager to lead our awesome Health Promotions team! Please share with your networks and click here to find out more.

May 27 marks both the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) and the beginning of Reconciliation Week. It’s a timely moment to reflect on the kind of inclusive and informed approach we want to see in liver health—one that supports everyone.

Warm regards,
