Meet Hep Hero Paulie Stewart from The Transplants

August 27, 2025

Meet Paulie Stewart — musician, transplant recipient, youth worker, and one of our Hep Heroes. In this short video filmed in 2024, Paulie shares his personal journey with hepatitis C, eventually leading to a life-saving liver transplant. His message is powerful: “Don’t put your head in the sand – get tested and act.” Well known as a member of Melbourne band Painters and Dockers, Paulie now channels his advocacy through The Transplants — a band he co-founded to raise awareness about organ donation and liver health. He uses his voice to challenge stigma and support others on similar health journeys.
