Mpox Resources for Health Workers and Communities

January 28, 2025

The Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care has published resources that provide information about what mpox is, symptoms, treatment and prevention, vaccine guidance and how we are responding to the virus.

The fact sheet provides information on testing and referring patients with suspected mpox (monkeypox), including how to safely and correctly collect and transport specimens. It is for physicians and should be used alongside the Public Health Laboratory Network (PHLN) mpox guidance documents. There is also a poster you can download and print off to support patient referrals and testing guidance.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
