On May 8, 24 passionate individuals from 13 organisations across the viral hepatitis sector came together for the fourth Viral Hepatitis Round Table (VHRT), co-hosted by Burnet Institute and LiverWELL. Held at The Living Room—a unique primary health service supporting people at risk of or experiencing homelessness—the afternoon created a powerful space for connection, reflection and forward-thinking collaboration.
The focus was on strengthening relationships, sharing successes, and having open, honest conversations about the challenges and opportunities ahead. We began by reflecting on key sector changes over the past year, before hearing insightful updates from five organisations working at the heart of the community.
Throughout the day, a shared vision emerged: that partnerships are essential to improving access to care, and that flexible and intensive responses are needed to achieve elimination.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
