Reflections from  B Part of the Solution – VHBA Spotlight

October 14, 2026
Last week, LiverWELL, on behalf of the Victorian Hepatitis B Alliance, brought together community organisations, health services, advocates and sector leaders from across Victoria for B Part of the Solution, an event exploring how we can work together to improve hepatitis B outcomes and help prevent liver cancer.
Officially opened by Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Pauline Richards MP, the event highlighted the important role community organisations play in raising awareness of hepatitis B and connecting people to testing, care and support.
Through diverse presentations, participants explored the patient care journey, where people fall through the cracks, and how they can help prevent that. A particularly moving contribution came from our Lived Experience Advisory Committee member Christopher Kee, who shared his personal experience of living with hepatitis B, receiving a liver transplant, and his commitment to raising awareness of testing, treatment, and prevention. Participants also heard practical examples from across Victoria and Australia demonstrating what organisations are doing to shift the dial on hepatitis B.
A key message throughout the day was that you don’t need to be a hepatitis B expert to make a difference. Whether you work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, or people who inject drugs, you have an opportunity to help us support people affected by hepatitis B.
