Throughout July and early August, LiverWELL proudly supported organisations to raise awareness of World Hepatitis Day and viral hepatitis through the World Hepatitis Day Incentives Program. Many events featured educational sessions focusing on testing and treatment for hepatitis B and C, as well as vaccination for hepatitis B. Other activities included testing and vaccination campaigns, community lunches and drop-in sessions.
LiverWELL staff attended and spoke at a number of events, while others were led by health professionals, community workers, peers and bilingual health workers. Participants shared positive feedback about the opportunity to learn more about keeping their livers healthy, protecting themselves and supporting the wellbeing of their families and friends. LiverWELL warmly acknowledges the fantastic collaboration and contributions of the following organisations in this year’s program:
Pilipino Elderly Association of South East Region
Migrant Resource Centre (North West Region)
Tawasul Foundation
Springvale Neighbourhood House
North Dandenong Neighbourhood House
Thorne Harbour Country
Oorja Foundation
Other events: Cohealth / Healthworks, Unity Libyan Youth Association, Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative, and Youth Projects (Living Room)
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
