Volunteer of the Month, August 2017
I am a Master of Public Health graduate who focused on health promotion and women’s health in my degree.
What inspired you to become a Hepatitis Victoria volunteer?
I was inspired to volunteer due to my interest in health promotion and to gain an opportunity to work with the community alongside health promotion officers and gain further insight into their work.
Your favorite Hepatitis Victoria sessions or moments.
One of my favourite moments has been helping out at the stall at the Springvale Snow Festival because there were so many people from different backgrounds who came for information so it was rewarding to be able to educate and help them.
What tips do you have for new volunteers?
New volunteers should definitely help out at the stall events because you can connect with other volunteers and it’s an opportunity to be able to reach the public in person and its lots of fun!!
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
