Volunteer Story by Priscilla Correa-Hiromi

Volunteer of the Month, August 2018

  • What inspired me to become a Hepatitis Victoria VolunteerĀ

I was interested in learning more about the organization and the activities developed to advocate for people with hepatitis. I also wanted to learn more about hepatitis and its treatments.

  • My favourite Hepatitis Victoria sessions or moments

I have always enjoyed the community participation and health promotion events, the festivals etc. They are a great opportunity to spread information and engage with the public. I have enjoyed to be involved in developing resources for the organization too, it’s quite a massive learning experience.

  • What tips do I have for new volunteers

Just start and join as many activities as you can. Everybody will be friendly and welcoming, you will be in a safe space, meet many people and learn a lot.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
