Volunteer of the Month December 2017

Tell us a bit about yourself

I am lucky enough to work in all our lived experience engagement programs and coordinate all our amazing volunteers. I began as a volunteer here 4 years ago and my background is in the mental health sector.

What inspired you to become a Hepatitis Victoria Volunteer?

I started volunteering with Hepatitis Victoria when I was doing my undergrad in psychology. I became interested in working with people who have experienced stigma and discrimination.

Your favourite Hepatitis Victoria sessions or moments

My favourite moment was when Kate and I were finally able to implement the chronic disease self-management program we had been working hard on. It was great to see people benefit from our work and grow each week.

What tips do you have for new volunteers?

Make the most of your time here! The staff are amazing and work incredibly hard. There are lots of different ways for you to be involved!
