We Support a Voice to Parliament

August 9, 2023

The Voice to Parliament represents a significant milestone in pursuing social equality, justice and health equity. It provides a platform for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices to be enshrined, heard, and valued – enabling the expression of our First Nations people’s unique perspectives, knowledge, and experiences.

LiverWELL believes this recognition and lasting change is an essential step towards fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have called for a political voice in one form or another for close to 100 years. Over this time their aims have remained resolute: to represent First Nations peoples in matters that affect their communities and to ensure that their perspectives are heard in the development and implementation of policies and programs. We believe this is particularly important in improving outcomes in liver health for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities.

Reconciliation is founded on respectful relationships. We urge all Australians to engage thoughtfully and respectfully as they educate themselves and others about this important opportunity.

We support a Voice to Parliament and a “yes” vote in the Referendum. We invite all Australians to take this step to make our nation a stronger, fairer, and better place for all.

It’s a YES from us!
