Communications Community of Practice Workshop

May 15, 2026

On Wednesday 13 May 2026, our communications team at LiverWELL joined communications professionals from hepatitis member organisations across Australia in Melbourne for the Communications Community of Practice Workshop hosted by Hepatitis Australia. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for participants to come together, exchange ideas, strengthen relationships across the sector, and explore the future of hepatitis communications in Australia. Discussions throughout the day focused on how greater collaboration, creativity, and community-informed approaches can help increase the reach and impact of communications work nationally.

Throughout the day, attendees heard from Pier Moro from the Centre for Culture, Ethnicity and Health, who spoke about effectively engaging culturally diverse communities through communications and the importance of ensuring messaging is accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive. Pat Gilmour from FPC also shared valuable insights into the role of evaluation in communications work, highlighting how embedding evaluation from the outset can strengthen campaigns, improve outcomes, and support long-term impact.

The workshop also included a collaborative planning session for World Hepatitis Day 2026, facilitated by Grace Hogan and Tuva Carli from Hepatitis Australia. The session encouraged participants to share ideas, identify opportunities for collaboration, and begin shaping coordinated communications activities for the year ahead.

A big thank you to Lisa Ryan for hosting and facilitating and Grace and Tuva for organising such an engaging day!
