Maryaan Essa recently returned to the community to deliver another engaging hepatitis B education session at Newbury Children and Community Centre. The Arabic-language session brought together 56 women from diverse cultural backgrounds to learn about hepatitis B prevention, testing, vaccination, treatment and the importanceof regular liver health checks.
The discussion created a safe space for women to ask questions and address common myths, including misconceptions about hepatitis B spreading through hugging, touching, shaking hands or sharing food. By providing clear, accurate information, Maryaan helped reduce stigma and build confidence, empowering participants to make informed decisions about testing, care and protecting their families.
Thank you, Maryaan, for continuing to strengthen viral hepatitis awareness through meaningful community education.
