The Mid-Autumn or Full Moon Festival is a traditional harvest celebration, highlighting the vibrant colors and spirit of Australia’s largest Southeast Asian community. The NEWGENs Full Moon Festival attracted around 1,000 attendees, including five councilors and the Deputy Mayor from the Brimbank City Council.
At the event, LiverWELL hosted a stall where we distributed resource packs in reusable bags, focusing on viral hepatitis and liver health. We provided resources for children, families, and community members in various languages, including Vietnamese, English, and Simplified Chinese. Our staff and volunteers engaged with attendees, answering questions and engaging the public. We also featured a spinning wheel game where participants could ‘spin to win’ small prizes and take part in a short quiz to earn spins and additional prizes.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
