Video: Asking about ethnicity and country of birth in healthcare settings

June 14, 2023

Patient ethnicity and country of birth can be important determinants of health, and knowing this information helps ensure people get the healthcare they need. People born in high prevalence regions can be at increased risk of hepatitis B and C, and when health professionals know this information they can better support them with testing and treatment options.

Asking clients in healthcare settings about this can be complex, so LiverWELL, in collaboration with the Doherty Institute, developed this video as part of a HepLOGIC study, to support people working in healthcare settings when collecting this vital information.
