On 24 & 31 May LiverWELL was joined by Morgan Cataldo from Morgan & Co for training on ‘Working with lived experience: exploring practices, challenges and mindsets’. Morgan uses her own lived experience perspective to advocate for and inform others about participatory practice and peer education.
LiverWELL is fully committed to being led by and informed by the consumer voice. Our lived experience speakers are the bread and butter of everything we do here at LiverWELL, so it is essential for us to continually reflect on our thinking and practices, and ensure a dedication to lifelong learning.
In this four-part workshop series, we developed our learnings about the fundamentals of consumer participation and lived experience, the role of power in our work, and ethical storytelling practices for advocates.
As a team, we have identified our areas of strength and spaces for improvement. We are eager and ready to keep growing our knowledge and look forward to putting this learning into practice in the near future.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
