World Hepatitis Day on 28 July brought together experts, partners, and community partners for a global day of action, raising awareness about hepatitis and our goal to eliminate viral hepatitis by 2030.
The buzz surrounding World Hepatitis Day continued before and after the event, with significant activities and promotions across Victoria. In Victoria, we were pleased to support 13 community partner organisations across the state to hold their own events. Billboards spread the Hepatitis: Test it, Treat it campaign message on Plenty Road in Preston and Burnley Street in Richmond, reaching an estimated 57,000 people. Flinders St Station, Drum Theatre in Dandenong, the Ballarat Clocktower and Fountain, and Bendigo Conservatory all glowed green in support on Sunday evening. Our myth-busting videos and Hep C rap song were a hit on social media and ads played on KIIS, GoldFM and 3KND.
Our CEO, Elaine Montegriffo, and our Peer Worker, Nicoletta Burrows, spoke at the Doherty Institute’s 2024 World Hepatitis Day seminar. Elaine was also interviewed by 3BA and ABC Ballarat. Both Elaine and Nicoletta emphasised the importance of providing non-judgmental assistance for individuals seeking testing and treatment for hepatitis.
On World Hepatitis Day, the LiverWELL team were out and about at Springvale Snow Fest, sharing information about testing and treatment.
LiverWELL staff were also at The Transplants gig at Memo Hall in St. Kilda during Donate Life Week, which focused on raising awareness about organ transplants. We had a stall at the event, engaging attendees in conversations about liver health and hepatitis, helping to broaden the impact of our World Hepatitis Day awareness campaign.
LiverWELL is proud to be part of the global movement to eliminate hepatitis by 2030. We look forward to continuing our efforts to raise community awareness, encourage testing and treatment, and help change attitudes by reducing stigma and discrimination while providing non-judgmental support.

LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
