On 11 June, Health Promotion Team staff members Neylan and Alain represented LiverWELL at the Celebrating Multicultural Seniors event hosted by the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria (ECCV). The event brought together more than 100 attendees from diverse cultural backgrounds to celebrate the contributions of multicultural seniors and highlight the importance of inclusion, cultural diversity, and social connection among older Victorians. The day featured presentations from community leaders, including ECCV Chairperson Dilnaz Billimoria and CEO Farah Farouque, as well as vibrant cultural music and dance performances showcasing the traditions, talents, and ongoing contributions of multicultural seniors.
LiverWELL engaged with attendees through an information stall, sharing resources and raising awareness about liver health, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. The team spoke with community members about the importance of regular viral hepatitis testing and prevention, particularly within culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with multicultural communities, promote liver health awareness, and support healthier outcomes for Victorians from diverse backgrounds.

The event featured presentations from community leaders, including ECCV Chairperson Dilnaz Billimoria and ECCV Chief Executive Officer Farah Farouque, who spoke about the importance of fostering inclusion, cultural diversity, and social connectedness among older Victorians. Speakers highlighted Australia’s rich multicultural identity, noting that jalf of the Victorian population,were either born overseas or have a parent born overseas, reflecting the diversity that continues to strengthen communities across the country.
A highlight of the day was the vibrant showcase of cultural music and dance performances by various community groups. These performances celebrated the traditions, talents, and enduring contributions of multicultural seniors, while also demonstrating the positive, active, and spirited role they play within their communities.
The event also provided an opportunity for a range of organisations to engage with attendees through information stalls. Participating organisations shared resources and support services on topics including hearing health, elder abuse prevention, social support programs, and community services available to older adults.
LiverWELL was pleased to participate in the event and engage with attendees about liver health, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. The team spoke with community members about the importance of liver health awareness and regular testing for viral hepatitis, particularly among culturally and linguistically diverse communities where hepatitis B may be more prevalent. LiverWELL also distributed educational resources and promotional merchandise featuring key health promotion messages, helping to raise awareness and encourage conversations about prevention, testing, and care.
