February 24th, 2022 marks International Family Drug Support Day which started in 2016 to draw attention to the importance of families affected by alcohol and or drugs, including the benefits of supporting families. International FDS Day aims to highlight that education, awareness, and tips on coping and keeping safe are critical in improving outcomes for the families of those who use drugs.
This year we are particularly focusing on ‘Voices to be Heard’. FDS are focusing on the results of our ‘Voices to be Heard’ survey which collected information on the views of families around drug policy. The results will be presented to Federal and State governments on 24 February 2022.
The objectives for the International Day are;
“Any family anywhere, regardless of background, economic and other circumstances can be affected by drugs. We hope this annual event will reach members of the community and change some of the negative attitudes that exist.” Tony Trimingham, Founder and CEO of Family Drug Support.
LiverWELL is committed in reducing stigma and discrimination for families and drug users, and promoting greater support and resources for treatment services for people who inject drugs.
The annual event will be held online this year due to the impact of COVID-19.
