Location: North Melbourne (VIC) | Hybrid working available
Salary: $71,285 per annum (for 0.6 FTE) + salary packaging benefits
Classification: SCHADS Level 5.1

Bring lived experience and community voices to the heart of health promotion.

At LiverWELL (incorporating Hepatitis Victoria), we’re on a mission to eliminate viral hepatitis and improve liver health for all. For more than 30 years, we’ve worked alongside communities to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote inclusion across Victoria and beyond.

We’re seeking a Community Engagement Lead to bring our Lived Experience Engagement Framework to life — ensuring people with lived and living experience are not just included but genuinely heard, respected, and empowered to shape how we work.

About LiverWELL

LiverWELL is a not-for-profit, community-based organisation that collaborates with government, research, and health-sector partners to:

  • Raise awareness and reduce stigma around viral hepatitis and liver disease
  • Build community and workforce capability
  • Improve access to care, treatment, and support
  • Advocate for stronger, fairer health responses

Our vision is simple yet powerful: Liver health for all.

The Role

Reporting to the Health Promotion Manager, the Community Engagement Lead will champion inclusive participation and strengthen how we engage with people who bring lived and living experience to our work.

You’ll lead the implementation of our Framework, build capability across the organisation, and coordinate initiatives such as the Lived Experience Speaker Program and advisory groups. Working collaboratively with diverse communities and partners, you’ll ensure their voices meaningfully shape LiverWELL’s health-promotion and advocacy activities.

About You

You’re a connector, collaborator, and advocate who believes in the power of shared experience to drive change. Empathetic and organised, you turn good intentions into inclusive practice.

You bring:

  • Experience designing or coordinating engagement with lived-experience or priority populations
  • Understanding of ethical and trauma-informed engagement practices
  • Strong facilitation and relationship-building skills
  • Experience collaborating with community organisations or health services
  • A creative, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach

Relevant qualifications in community engagement, community development, or health promotion are welcome, as is equivalent experience. People with lived or living experience of liver disease, viral hepatitis, or experiences of stigma or disadvantage are highly encouraged to apply.

Why Join Us?

At LiverWELL, you’ll join a passionate, close-knit team committed to inclusion, collaboration, and impact. We offer:

  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • A supportive, purpose-driven environment
  • Opportunities to shape inclusive engagement across Victoria
  • Salary packaging and professional development opportunities

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE, 3 days per week) ongoing position, based in North Melbourne, with some travel for community engagement and events.
