LiverWELL Regional Forums – Geelong Recap

Event date
June 24, 2022 - July 24, 2022

LiverWELL hosted our third regional forum of 2022 in Geelong on 24 June.

Our Health Promotions and Community Education team put together a comprehensive workshop that included personal insights from lived experience speakers, with liver health knowledge provided by expert practitioners. We hope that these insights aid in the continued support for those living with liver conditions within the Geelong community.

Presenters from the Geelong Forum included:

Craig Harvey – Harm Reduction Officer at Barwon Health

Dr. Amanda Wade – Blood Borne Viruses Medical Lead at Barwon Health, Senior Research Fellow at the Burnet Institute and Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at Monash University

Dr. Adrian Farrugia – Research Fellow in the Drugs, Gender and Sexuality Research Program at the Australian Research in Sex, Health and Society, La Trobe University, and Adjunct Research Fellow at the National Drug Research Institute, Curtin University.

Inga Tribe – Viral Hepatitis Outreach Clinical Nurse Consultant at Barwon Health

Steven Taylor – Lived Experience Speaker

Thank you to the speakers, and the local community of healthcare workers who attended the workshop.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
