StreetShot Reaches Schools Across Victoria

June 7, 2022

Our Health Promotions Project Officer Kay Dufty has been facilitating StreetShot information sessions to educational institutions across Victoria over the past month. We have seen a great volume of reception from high school students wanting to learn more about viral hepatitis and taking care of their liver.

Understanding the risk factors for hepatitis, and how to avoid them, while motivating constructive behaviour change isn’t always as simple as being told what to do or what not to do. Interaction, peer collaboration and creativity and young people relating to one another are ways that StreetShot builds understanding and supports students in making informed and healthier decisions regarding their liver health.

The StreetShot program focuses on the steps that young people can take to keep themselves safe from contracting viral hepatitis, along with the preventative measures and treatment options for hepatitis B and C. The program is offered to educational institutions such as secondary schools, and TAFEs, as well as community youth groups.
