World Liver Day 2022

April 19, 2022

19 April marks World Liver Day 2022 – a day where we aim to raise awareness of our liver health and how we can better support the hardest working organ in our bodies.

With more than six million Australians affected by liver disease and more than 7,000 Australians dying each year from chronic liver disease, it has never been more important to talk about how we can better support our livers. At LiverWELL, we believe caring for our livers can be simple, which is why we have broken
the process down into four simple steps:

  • Eating Well: maintain a balanced diet by eating from each of the food groups – limit saturated fats, sugar, salt and oil
  • Drink Aware: limit alcohol consumption and try to drink lots of water
  • Feeling Well: keep your mind healthy by engaging in social activities, mindfulness, or meditation
  • Getting Active: try to schedule in 30 minutes of physical activity each day.
Our livers are important for our survival and wellbeing, by keeping them healthy, we keep ourselves healthy.

We acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands where we work - the lands of the Woi-Wurrung Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations. We express our gratitude to them for their continued care and curation of these lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

LiverWELL observes and honours the Kulin Nation's intrinsic connection to land, sky and water, and the creator Bunjil. LiverWELL is committed to being led and informed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders on bridging health outcomes for communities and improving liver health.
